Posted by In the following video I share my top ten favorite board games I played growing up. They are games we had. Now, as a collector of games, I know there are many other games that I might have loved more– but we as a family didn’t have those when I was growing up – so I’m only sharing those I played and had back then.
I’ll have to make a list of the top ten games I wish I had played growing up – now that I know they were out there. But I didn’t miss them at the time. I loved playing the following games. I had 5 brothers and sisters (3 brothers, 2 sisters) and we played games a lot. It’s much of what we did since we weren’t allowed to watch TV often -other than on Sunday nights – who remembers Disney and Animal Kingdom? That was our main TV time.
Let’s get to my top ten favorite games growing up.
First honorable mentions: I’m going to throw in many of the standards in here. Although games have changed a lot since then, these were loved games of the time. Risk, Operation, Life, Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, Connect 4, Mouse Trap, Aggravation, Stratego, and numerous card games. They were all games I enjoyed playing. Chinese Checkers and Chess, too. We played those often as well.
Like who can forget trying to catch the mouse by kicking the ball down the stairs – and then with the guy jumping into the tub! As well as popping the trouble bubble, dropping discs into the slots of Connect 4, or carefully trying to get the funny bone out of the operation guy without the buzzer.
Many of those honorable mention games don’t need any explaination – they were the games of the time.
I’ll be doing many top tens of today – later on in the channel. Like top ten solo, top ten family – and these change a lot. What was top ten of 2022, might not be top ten of 2023. Or even last week – as you play new games – the top tens are constantly changing….
For now though – let’s get to top ten games I loved growing up. This won’t change – unless of course I forgot one to put on it….. which might be – It’s quite a few years ago….
