Creating weird and strange creatures in the new card game called Creatures will have players laughing at the humorous names and amusing descriptions.
Creatures is a new card game in which players strive to build the strongest creatures by mixing and matching cards. The cards comprise of a front, middle, or back section of an animal. Each newly formed creature must contain one of each. As players create wild and crazy animals from their playing hands, they are bound to laugh at the witty designs and stumble over the names of these new and comical combinations.
Learning how to play the game is simple. Each player is dealt 7 cards from the deck of 96 cards at the start. On each card is found a section of an animal, the species it comes from, part of a name, a number, and fragment of a description. Some cards also show a poison bar.
The object of the game is for a player to create the winning number of Champion Creatures. For a game of 2 to 3 players, the winning number needed is 5 Champions. Four players only need to create four Champions and 5 to 6 players need to have three. Creatures become Champions if they successfully attack and win battles of the other player’s creatures.
The number found in the top left corner of the card indicates the strength for that particular card. The strongest, and winner of a battle, is the creature with the highest strength. This is determined by adding the numbers of the three sections (front, middle and back).
For example, if a player creates the following GRIZZ-MON-DILLO:
…that particular creature will have a strength of 16 (10+5+1) as indicated on the cards.
The GRIZZMONDILLO would win or fend off an attack of the AL-TY-TROSS who has a strength of only 7 (also pictured).
The first player to succeed in creating the correct number of Champions will win the game.
In the box are directions containing additional rules to follow. The above are only the basics. But it can be seen the new card game offers a wonderfully imaginative good time for a family. Any family will enjoy sitting around the table; creating fascinating beasts with humorous descriptions and cheerfully battling each other. No one knows what the next amazing creature to be produced by a player will be.
Even though the dealing and drawing of cards is by chance, the bit of strategic card playing makes it a game with a perfect balance of both. Creatures is recommended for ages 8 and up and for 2 to 6 players.
