(For 2-6 players, ages 4 and up)

The Enchanted Forest was first published in Germany in 1981 by the name of Sagaland.  It soon gained popularity, won the 1982 Game of the Year Award, and was made available for players across the world.  It was published in the US by its new name of Enchanted Forest.

Game Play is set by introducing a charming story. It is briefly shared below:

High above the Enchanted Forest lived a Wise Old and Beloved King who was concerned who would rule after his Kingdom after he was gone. He hadn’t any children. However, he had heard there were incredible treasures hidden in the forest below. He decided that whoever should find and lead him to the hiding places of just 3 of the treasures first, this person would succeed him and become the new Ruler.

Such from the story, the mission for the game is given.  The first player to find and report back to the King on 3 locations of hidden treasures wins the game!

Set up for the game is simple.  There are 13 Trees, each with a ‘hidden treasure’ image underneath it.  These trees are secretly and randomly placed on the space marked for a ‘tree’ on the board.  The 13 cards, each with a matching image of a treasure, are shuffled, and placed face down on the board in the Castle Courtyard.  The top card is then turned over.  It is this top card’s treasure the players are in search for first.

Players start in the Village, opposite the Castle.

As players move around the board, via the role of dice, players can have a ‘peek’ at the treasure hiding under the tree if they land on a ‘blue space’ next to the tree.  If the treasure image matches the top card, a player can return to the castle and report the find.

If the treasure location is correctly identified, by lifting the tree and showing other players, that player gets to keep the ‘Treasure Card’ and looks for another!

Whoever first finds- and reports back successfully- 3 of the treasures wins the game.

The Treasures are as illustrated:
